Introducing Your Two New Editors-in-Chief: Kara & Neshan

Hello Musings readers! We would like to roll in our new summer edition of Musings by introducing ourselves, your two new editors-in-chief. But before that, we’d like to say a huge thank you to outgoing editors Molly and Mia for passing the torch on to us and for being such incredible mentors. We are so excited to see what they will do after graduation. Stay tuned for their thesis updates, and don’t worry, they will be checking in at the end of the summer to say their goodbyes.

We started off our first year of the MMSt program as contributing writers for Collections Corner and She’s My Muse. Writing about our favourite museums, collections, exhibitions, artists and muses has been a wonderful way to indulge in our own museum interests outside of class. Musings is a lovely community of talented and interesting writers, individuals, and museum professionals– we are so grateful to be a part of it and to have the opportunity to be your new editors. Moving forward, we are excited to read insightful articles by our contributing writers while we also continue writing for our respective columns.

To Musings readers and contributors: Thank you! Going forward, we hope to organize more in-person Musings events to foster a deeper sense of community and friendship. Until then, we hope you indulge in what summer has to offer… Sunshine, cocktails, and engaging museum-related articles!

MUSSA acknowledges the past and ongoing role of museums in colonialism and are committed to overcoming and reforming oppressive practices within the iSchool and larger museum community. MUSSA operates on the traditional lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit, Wendat peoples, Haudenosaunee, and Anishinaabe. We are thankful to be situated on Turtle Island and for the opportunity to learn and work on the land.

MUSSA is a student association of the University of Toronto and as such is committed to the university’s goals of equity, human rights, and respect for diversity. All members of the learning environment should strive to create an atmosphere of mutual respect where all members of our community can express themselves, engage with one another, and respect one another’s differences. The University of Toronto does not condone discrimination, violence or harassment against any persons or communities. As University of Toronto students, MUSSA members are bound by the University of Toronto’s Code of Student Conduct and are expected to act in a manner that is appropriate and respectful while fulfilling their role on MUSSA.
